MAY 26, 2009 -- An innocent victim to gunplay in the Gaslamp Quarter on May 24 was memorialized last night at the corner of Fifth Avenue and E Street. LaKiesha Mason was killed by a gunman who wounded two others after a street brawl around 2 a.m. in the morning. Mason had been out celebrating her 21st birthday at the belo nightclub before she exited and was hit by a bullet. Her family and friends spent last night at a candle-lit vigil at the very spot where Mason fell after being shot. Relatives handed out fliers for donations and/or cards of condolence for funeral services. According to printed information being passed out at the vigil, donations could be sent to: SDPD Southestern Division, "In Honor of Lakiesha Mason," 7222 Skyline Drive, San Diego, CA 92114.
